This is who we are...this is what we do
"This is who we are....this is what we do" has become more than a catch phrase at CLI. It is a powerful statement birthed into this Church by the power of the Holy Spirit. It began as a series title the Lord gave Pastor David as he began to preach through the Book of Acts in the autumn of 2003. This series began to touch people's hearts in a new way. As we studied the Book of Acts, we began to see just who God had created us to be as well as how we are to live that out in the world we inhabit.
It was a defining moment for the Church and its leadership. We came to realize just who God intended for us to be and how we were to carry out ministry here at CLI.
- Our praise times are open, lively, full of joy a and expressive in nature.
- Our worship times are deep, rich and full of the presence of God.
- Our times in the corporate Word are direct, bold and unapologetic in content.
- Our ministry times are open displays of God's holy power and anointing.
- Our home groups are the primary place of fellowship, personal ministry, and loving care giving.
- Our governmental order is established around Five-foldministry leaders (Ephesians 4:11) and Eldership.
...Why? Because this is who we are and this is what we do.
"This is who we are and this is what we do!" is not a statement meant to imply that the way we do it is the only way. Far from it! The manifold wisdom of God is expressed in a multiplicity of ways. We believe there are various Biblical methods which can be applied to any given Church. By saying, "This is who we are and this is what we do", we are simply saying we believe this is God's plan for CLI.
We are not trying to be like other Churches. We are not trying to be what the latest Church fad is telling us to be. We are simply and earnestly seeking to mature into what God has called us to be at this season and time in history. The Bible says King David served his own generation and was then gathered unto his fathers. Our desire is to serve God in applicable ways which evangelize, speak and disciple the present generation.
...Why? Because "This is who we are and this is what we do!"
